BLOG: Home Depot Leaving at End of Season

Yep, the familiar orange No. 20 Toyota from Joe Gibbs Racing will be a rare sight after the end of the 2014 season.

The Home Depot, which won NASCAR Sprint Cup Series championships in 2002 and 2005 with Tony Stewart at the wheel, will leave the sport following the season-ending race at Homestead-Miami Speedway, according to a report in the Sports Business Journal.

Home Depot has been slowly disappearing in recent seasons, having sold a number of races to Dollar General. In fact, the only orange on the No. 20, now driven by Matt Kenseth, is at the rear of the car and on the TV panel.

Home Depot's Husky tool brand has been the primary sponsor of the car when it is the primary.

The Home Depot departure, while expected for the past few seasons, makes things more difficult for the team, which is in the throes of reports that Carl Edwards will join the team at the end of the season in a fourth car.

This isn't over, but it just might get a little more strange before we know all of the details.
