BLOG: What Carl Edwards Said and Didn't Say in Victory Lane

If you were watching the Victory Lane interview from Sonoma with Carl Edwards, I'm sure you noticed the "hug" between Edwards and team owner Jack Roush, right?

If that weren't awkward enough, Edwards talked about the sponsor folks from Aflac and how they were there to celebrate with him...but not Ford and not Fusion, which is an indicator (at least to me) that part of the problem that has Edwards on the prowl for new employment has to do with Ford (and money, I'd bet).

Rumors are rampant that he will leave RFR at the end of the season to go to a fourth car with Joe Gibbs Racing, sponsorship undetermined. One of those that might be coming with Carl is Subway. He signed off the TV interview with, "I'm going to go get a Subway sandwich!"

According to what I hear, that's the only sponsor that can go with Edwards wherever he winds up.

This will last until at least September, because that's when the parties are free to talk. Just thought his Victory Lane behavior said volumes about what that announcement would be.
