Federated Auto Parts 400 2013: Live Results, Updates and Analysis

Sep 7 2013 - 6:30pm

After an exciting finish to the Federated Auto 400 at Richmond, Carl Edwards got his second win of the season!

It took 134 Laps to pass before we saw the first caution of the night, and it would be mostly green flag racing throughout the night.

Brad Keselowski was strong for a majority of the race, and even ran up front for a good portion, but after a caution came out during green flag pit stops, Brad never made it to the front again.

Then with the race coming to an end, Ryan Newman was able to take the lead and was on his way to compete for the championship.

Until Clint Bowyer spun with eight Laps to go. Newman struggled getting out of pit road because of his crew, and didn't have a chance to make it to the front.

In the end Carl Edwards would jump out in front with Kurt Busch right behind him, and the Chase bubble finally popped.

Kurt Busch managed to finish in second, and he made it into the Chase. Logano also made it in, but only by one point, and Martin Truex Jr landed in the last wild card spot.

On the other side of the Chase bubble though, Newman lost the tiebreaker to Martin Truex Jr, and Jeff Gordon would miss the Chase by just two points.

Brad Keselowski didn't have enough go his way, and he won't be able to defend his title in the Chase.

Now, with the regular season over, points will be reset and drivers will compete for the Sprint Cup championship.
