iNSIDE SCOOP: Ogres and Idiots, Oh, My!

Sometimes you just can’t improve on a story.

I mean, yeah, you can add detail, embellish the major points a bit and give it a good hot wash for grammar, but sometimes, you just let it lie as is and present it to the world.

The war of words at New Hampshire Motor Speedway between Kyle Busch and Ryan Newman is one such case.

"I really hate it that Kurt got tore up and I felt like he had the best car here today," Kyle said to ESPN of his brother, who led a race-high 102 laps. "He was definitely good. He could definitely roll the long runs for sure and I was proud of those guys, but man, just stupidity. I mean Ryan Newman is the biggest stupid idiot out here. And he's a big ogre and he can do whatever he wants because he can probably kick anybody's butt, so no sense in getting into a fight with him. But glad he is out of a job." 

The crash has been documented before, so no need to go back and rehash it.

It is interesting that Kurt Busch didn’t go off on Newman; his brother did. Add to that the fact that it appeared that Newman got swept up in the crash; Matt Kenseth was behind Kurt at the time.

"I guess [Kenseth] had a little influence on it," Newman said later. "We were kind of in a bad spot having a little bit older tires. ... Just a lot of disrespect from a bunch of guys on restarts. What comes around goes around."

That was Sunday. On Monday, it got hinky again.

Appearing on Sirius XM Radio, Newman delivered the money line about Kyle Busch.

"We know he's not very bright,” Newman said. “I'm sure if I rearrange his face I might fix it. He's frustrated finishing third [actually second] or wherever he was after hitting me first and then giving me a little rub down the straightaway. Just imagine how I feel. It is what it is. We know he's not very bright. He's a heck of a talent, but not very bright."

Newman is clinging to the hope of a Chase berth in his final season at SHR, standing 19th in the points and 36 points outside the top 10. Since he has nothing to lose, it could be interesting for Busch if he decides to say the heck with it and get some back.

“I never said that," Newman told SiriusXM. "If he's going to run his mouth, he better be able to back up running his mouth. It seems like after his comment about me not having a ride it seems like he has way more to lose than I do."

This could be an interesting run to Richmond.
