NASCAR Books, TV Center Stage

If you're struggling for something to do between now and Feb. 26, you might want to investigate a couple of books now out on NASCAR, and if you're home on Tuesday night, tune in to Tim Allen's new show and watch Tony Stewart be...Tony Stewart.

A new Jeff Gordon book, called "Opening Jeff Gordon's Mail," is now out, and it details the lives of Molly and Russ Harris, founders of the Jeff Gordon National Fan Club. Fan mail is not unusual to a star of Gordon's stature, and the Harrises opened all his mail for more than 10 years.

Molly's new book takes readers on a behind-the-scenes tour of the Jeff Gordon National Fan Club. A must-read for Gordon backers, I'm sure.

Darrell Waltrip's life has been well-chronicled, but perhaps not from this perspective. He writes about Feb. 18, 2001 in his new book, "Sundays Will Never Be the Same."

It was before 9/11, and it was the first Daytona 500 that Darrell would be a part of that didn't feature him being behind the wheel. His brother won the race, too. Big day for him, right? Something else also happened that day, and Waltrip tells it the way he saw and felt it.

Stewart, who ran to his third NASCAR Sprint Cup Series title in 2011, will make a cameo appearance in Tim Allen's ABC comedy "Last Man Standing" tomorrow night (Feb. 14) at 8 p.m. ET

The preview is apparently hilarious, and the show does feature the No. 14 Office Depot/Mobil 1 Chevrolet, as well as Stewart at his dry-humored best.
