ONMC POWER 10: Guess Who?

Brad Keselowski won at Richmond and he won at Chicagoland. So guess who is the first Chase-era leader in the ONMC Power 10?

You got it.

Keselowski scored his series-best fifth victory of the season by sliding between Kyle Larson and Kevin Harvick and running away from there. He and crew chief Paul Wolfe are the new Jimmie-Chad Show, and we'll see if it's good enough to earn Title No. 2.

So let's get about ranking the Chase, Round 1, in terms of Power, shall we?

1. Brad Keselowski: Five. Victories. No one else has more than three. Next? Last week: 5

2. Jeff Gordon: If you can't beat them, finish second. That's what Gordon did, and what he'll have to do until Race 9 of the Chase. Last week: 1

3. Joey Logano: Finished fourth at Chicagoland, blowing up off Turn 3 on the final lap. He'll need more of that kind of luck to keep pace with his teammate. Last week: 3

4. Kevin Harvick: Ol' Happy was fifth at the finish, led a race-best 79 laps and got beat again at the end. He's not that Happy right now. Last week: 7

5. Dale Earnhardt Jr.: Ran well, top-five most all night, but was 11th at the finish. Good day's work, but he needs to do better at NHMS. Last week: 2

6. Denny Hamlin: Ran sixth at Chicagoland and he was pulling Hendrick cars down the straights. That's new...and might be a key to the Chase. Last week: 9

7. Kyle Busch: Over his Richmond tantrum, KBShow was also running even with the HMS cars. That's good for JGR, and might help solve Kyle's anger management issues. Last week: not ranked

8. Jimmie Johnson: Didn't lead a lap at Chicagoland, admittedly not one of his best tracks. That should tell you something. Last week: 6

9. Kurt Busch: A spin heading to pit road was a minor setback, though it did bring out a needed caution. He's racing like the Outlaw does. Last week: 10

10. Matt Kenseth: Didn't lead, either, but then he usually doesn't. When he does...well, look out. Added JGR horsepower helps. Last week: 4

Dropped out: Carl Edwards

Close But No Cigar:

Kasey Kahne, who was 13th at CS; Edwards, who ran 20th; Ryan Newman, who was 15th; AJ Allmendinger, a fading 22nd; Greg Biffle, a struggling 23rd; and Aric Almirola, who had an engine let go and essentially end his Chase before it really got started. Honorable Mention: Kyle Larson, because the kid can wheel it; and Jamie McMurray, who led a bunch of laps and was wicked-fast all night.
