ONMC POWER 10: It's All Even Again...

Now that the Challenger Round is history and the Contender Round begins, it's a clean sheet of paper, point-wise. 

So who is the top dog in the kennel today?

That would be Four-Time, Jeff Gordon. Gordon rocked it like it was 1999 at Dover, winning going away and blunting the Team Penske roll. 

So let's cap off Dover with the Power 10 and get right to it.

1. Jeff Gordon: Entering the Contender round, Gordon has momentum after winning going away at Dover. He is closer to No. 5 now than he has been in the past several years. Last week: 7

2. Brad Keselowski: Disappointed after finishing second at Dover, BK figures to be on the chip this weekend. Total domination is the goal here. Last week: 2

3. Joey Logano: Cooled a bit at Dover, but you can't count either of the Penske Fords out right now. It's a 1.5-mile track, so he'll be fast. Last week: 1

4. Kevin Harvick: Dominated Dover until a lug caught in the wheel and cut the tire. He's fast, and ticked off. Bad combination for the rest of the field. Last week: 3

5. Jimmie Johnson: Six-Time hasn't flashed the brilliance that has marked his past several seasons, but with the format the way it is, he still has time. Last week: 4

6. Matt Kenseth: After a pinball ride at New Hampshire, Kenseth finished a solid fifth at Dover. Seems like he always is top-five there. Getting it together despite no victories yet. Last week: not ranked

7. Denny Hamlin: Has been fast of late, and that could be a good sign for the next three races. He and JGR are coming on line for the run to the title. Last week: not ranked

8. Dale Earnhardt Jr.: Not showing as much speed as he did prior to the Chase starting, but still in good shape. They reset the points so all are even now. Last week: 6

9. Kyle Larson: The kid is quick, has been all season. If a non-Chaser wins a race over the next six, he's going to be the one. Last week: 8

10. Kasey Kahne: It's a wonder he's not rocking a full set of gray hair after the Dover race. In, out...finally in. Last week: not ranked

Dropped out: Kyle Busch, Aric Almirola and AJ Allmendinger.

Close But No Cigar:

Busch, who is one win away from getting on a major roll; Ryan Newman, who just seems to hang around and score points and bide his time; Carl Edwards, who could get hot this weekend at Kansas.
