ONMC POWER 10: JoLo's Time to Shine

After waiting a day (on a short week, no less), the cars and stars of the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series delivered a solid performance at Texas last week. It took overtime (go figure) but the best car won, and there were some interesting shenanigans going on--a wild accident involving the point leader, more tire troubles and some interesting decisions in the final laps.

Just like last week, there's a new leader in the clubhouse, and the question is, will he last a second week atop the ONMC Power 10? Not many have, so this might break a streak of its own.

As usual, we rank the top 10 drivers in NASCAR according to how they’re running right now.

How it works is simple: we tell you who the 10 best drivers are after each race this season, and you can agree, disagree or improve on them by commenting on the article itself. Sound good?

Great. Here we go.

1. Joey Logano: Won at Texas, made the right calls at the right time and extended the streak of different winners to seven. He's been good all year, too. Last week: 9

2. Jeff Gordon: Hasn't won yet this year, but it's coming. Made a gutsy call for two tires to gain the lead, but couldn't stop Sliced Bread at the end. Last week: 5

3. Kyle Busch: If he ever figures out how to make the car run fast at the end of the race, he's going to go off. Almost did it on the G-W-C Monday. Last week: 6

4. Carl Edwards: Best of the Fords not owned by Roger Penske, he's putting together a solid season. Could be first repeat winner, if Busch doesn't beat him to it. Last week: 3

5. Matt Kenseth: Hasn't won this year, might could do it this weekend. Or maybe not. He's still seeking last year's form. Last week: 4

6. Dale Earnhardt Jr.: Crashed spectacularly just 13 laps in on Monday, dropped to tie for sixth with a teammate, but still has lots of upside. Last week: 1

7. Brad Keselowski: Had a shot at the win on Monday, but got caught speeding on the money stop. Was stupid fast as well. Last week: 7

8. Jimmie Johnson: Got caught in Junior's mess--literally--and finished 25th. Something is wrong with the Six-Time machine. It could get better Saturday. Last week: 8

9. Kyle Larson: This kid is a powerhouse. Another top-five finish, he's driving the wheels off and there's nothing wrong with his courage. Last week: not ranked

10. Paul Menard: More to this cat than daddy's money. He's had three straight top-10s and he's been hanging around the big dogs. He might be the next one. Last week: not ranked

Dropped out: Ryan Newman, Kurt Busch

Close but no cigar: 

Tony Stewart (another top-10), Brian Vickers (another top-10), Austin Dillon (steady as a rock). Lady in Black will separate the wheat from the chaff this weekend.
