ONMC POWER 10: KANSAS TORNADO GORDON PUTS THE HAMMER DOWN

Point leader Jeff Gordon had a problem coming into Kansas: he led the points, but didn't have a victory.

No longer.

The four-time champion took care of that piece of business by winning the 5-Hour Energy 400, and he retained his top spot in the ONMC Power 10.

More importantly, it all but locks in a second Hendrick car to the Chase, and we are headed to the House that Jimmie Built in another week. Teammate Kasey Kahne was wicked quick at Kansas, a sign that he's found some stuff out too.

1. Jeff Gordon: Still hasn't won yet...oh, wait. He won Saturday! Point leader and in the Chase. No other way to go than put him No. 1. Last week: 1

2. Kevin Harvick: Led a lot at Kansas, but got bit by the green-flag pit stop bug and let Gordon run away from him over the final stages. Still, with two wins and a freaky-fast car, he's solid at No. 2. Last week: 3

3. Kyle Busch: Finished 15th at Kansas, which I gather he would disappear into a sinkhole for all time. He never wins there in Cup. Still, he's third in points with a win... Last week: 2

4. Joey Logano: Ran fourth at Kansas and was coming like a freight train, but got caught out by fuel and Gordon's slick pit moves. Two wins speak rather loudly, too. Last week: 5

5. Dale Earnhardt Jr.: Fifth at Kansas to continue an amazingly consistent season. Still has a victory, and there might be more where that came from. Last week: 6

6. Matt Kenseth: Still hasn't won yet, but he's getting closer. Shockingly lacking speed for much of the season, he's been consistent. That will change. Last week: 4

7. Carl Edwards: Sixth at Kansas. Seemed to fade when the action got hot in the late going. That's all too familiar for Cuz and the rest of the Roush Fenway bunch. Last week: not ranked

8. Jimmie Johnson: Rallied for a ninth-place finish after looking merely mortal for large chunks of the Kansas race. He was the sixth car with an HMS engine to finish on Saturday. Last week: 10

9. Ryan Newman: Just missed the top 10 in 11th, despite hitting Kurt Busch on the latter's second spin of the night. He just keeps finishing well. Last week: Close but No Cigar

10. Danica Patrick: Yep. You read it right. Seventh at the finish, ran as high as third, passed nine NASCAR Sprint Cup championships in one corner. She had a fast hot rod, and she's 10th. Deal with it. Last week: not ranked

Dropped out: Greg Biffle, Denny Hamlin, Brian Vickers

Brad Keselowski (13th at Kansas), Kyle Larson (12th), Vickers (who was quick at times but not consistent), Hamlin (18th) and Biffle (16th).
