ONMC POWER 10: Sea Changes

If you had said that Jimmie Johnson, Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Brad Keselowski would finish 40th, 39th and 36th, respectively, at Kansas, you'd be laughed out of most conversations.

Yet that's exactly what happened last week, and all three are in mortal peril of missing the cutoff.

Joey Logano had no troubles, however, and he won going away, so he's the logical choice to lead this week's ONMC Power 10.

1. Joey Logano: JoLo wins again, stakes his claim on the Eliminator round and sets himself up for a points run over the next two races. He's in the catbird's seat. Last week: 3

2. Kyle Larson: No, he's not in the Chase, but he keeps finishing second. One of these days--maybe Saturday--he'll step one spot up. Last week: 9

3. Kyle Busch: Third at Kansas, he's peaking at the right time. He could be incredibly dangerous the rest of the way. Last week: not ranked

4. Carl Edwards: Like Busch, he's been quiet in the Chase thus far, but finished fifth at Kansas. He could win any of the next six. Last week: not ranked

5. Ryan Newman: Still hasn't won this season, but he's hanging around. And around. Don't be surprised if he points his way to the final four. Last week: not ranked 

6. Denny Hamlin: Another guy who has been quiet, which is odd for Hambone, but a sixth at Kansas means he's almost ready to go. Last week: 7

7. Kevin Harvick: If they gave points for poles, he'd be a runaway winner. They don't, and he's been up and down of late. Last week: 4

8. Jeff Gordon: Momentum went the way of the $1 cheeseburger at Kansas, but he's still kicking. Could win at CMS. Last week: 1

9. Matt Kenseth: Hanging around like a hipster at a Dylan concert. Consistent enough to point his way to the final four. Runs well at CMS. Last week: 6

10. Martin Truex Jr.: Unranked all season, he and the FRR bunch uncork a top-five at Kansas. He runs well at CMS too. Building. Last week: not ranked

Dropped out: Johnson, Earnhardt Jr., Keselowski, Kasey Kahne

Austin Dillon, who was fast at Kansas; AJ Allmendinger, rebounding after a stretch of subpar runs; and Paul Menard, because it's Charlotte and he's fast.
