Is this going to be a “good” Charlotte race, or a “bad” Charlotte race?

Saturday night’s Bank of America 500 will be one or the other, I’m thinking, and when I say good or bad, I don’t mean whether it’s going to be entertaining or not. It will be.

What I mean is, will it be a good race for the point battle? I can see this happening one of two ways. First, it will tighten the points even further, or second, it will become a Five-Time benefit and further stamp Jimmie with the favorite’s label.

It could happen that he’ll have an off night, and the top eight will contract. Right now, it’s a 20-point margin, first to eighth. Or, conversely, he could dominate like he did at Kansas and we’ll be faced with a multi-point lead by the 48.

Game over.

Your thoughts? Who is going to win this puppy? Will it be tight headed to Talladega? That’s the first of two wild-card races (the other being Martinsville), and it could send us into Texas with a whole new ball game…
