Roush Wants to Go Back to 4 Cars; Loomis No Longer at RPM

Jack Roush said yesterday that sponsorship precluded him from racing the No. 6 again this year, but he's already thinking about getting that fourth Ford out on the track in 2013.

Consolidation will "make us stronger," he said, and he might be right.

In other news, Robbie Loomis is not general manager of Richard Petty Motorsports any longer. His contract expired, he was not offered a new one, said The King. Loomis had argued long and hard to hire Kurt Busch for the open No. 43 car that went to Aric Almirola, but Petty said the sponsors wouldn't have it.

Loomis is still apprised of what is going on at RPM, up to the minute, Petty said, and he did not rule out a return for Loomis in the future.
