TIRE TALK: Goodyear Tire Notes for Michigan

Tire: Goodyear Eagle Speedway Radials

Set limits: Sprint Cup: 5 sets for practice/qualifying and 10 sets for the race

Tire Codes: Left-side -- D-4558; Right-side -- D-4586

Tire Circumference: Left-side -- 87.48 in. (2,222 mm); Right-side -- 88.50 in. (2,248 mm)

Technical Inspection Inflation: Left Front -- 30 psi; Left Rear -- 30 psi; Right Front -- 55 psi; Right Rear -- 50 psi

Minimum Recommended Inflation: Left Front -- 26 psi; Left Rear -- 26 psi; Right Front -- 57 psi; Right Rear -- 54 psi

Notes: Teams in the NASCAR Sprint Cup and Nationwide Series will run different tire set-ups at Michigan this weekend. In Sprint Cup, teams will run the same left-side tire code (D-4558) they ran twice at this track last season.This is the first time they have run this right-side code (D-4586) at Michigan, though they did run it earlier this season at Kansas. compared to what was run in 2013, this right-side tire features just a slight compound change. Another change from last year is an increase of two psi (LF), four psi (LR) and six psi (RF & RR) in the minimum recommended air pressure in all four tires. Goodyear tested at Michigan on April 10-11. Teams and drivers participating in that test were the No. 15 Michael Waltrip Racing Toyota with Clint Bowyer, No. 16 Roush Fenway Racing Ford with Greg Biffle, No. 21 Wood Brothers Racing Ford with Trevor Bayne, No. 31 Richard Childress Racing Chevrolet with Ryan Newman and No. 88 Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet with Dale Earnhardt Jr. As on all NASCAR ovals greater than one mile in length, teams are required to run inner liners in all four tire positions at Michigan. Air pressure in those inner liners should be 12-25 psi greater than that of the outer tire.
