VIDEO: Throwdown in R-Town! Ambrose, Mears Scuffle at Richmond (updated)

If you haven't heard by now, there was some extra-curricular activity following Saturday night's Toyota Owners 400 at Richmond International Raceway.

Casey Mears and Marcos Ambrose got busy in the aftermath of the race, resulting in Mears getting clocked by the Australian driver on the right side of his head. Mears had shoved Ambrose before the punch was thrown. NASCAR officials are investigating the scuffle as we speak, and penalties might be handed down tomorrow.

"He got me pretty good with that shot." Mears told NASCAR.com. Mears wore sunglasses for most of Sunday's 5k marathon he ran in in Huntersville, N.C. It was clear the punch left a gnarly bruise and swollen left eye.

On Sunday, Mears remained affable despite being on the wrong end of the punch. "One thing I can say is that out of all the NASCAR fights, when you see people swing it's usually a lot of fly-swatting," Mears said. "He actually connected, so that was pretty good." Mears said the bad blood began on the track while the two were battling for position.

Richmond is the kind of track where this happens (i.e. Kevin Harvick vs. Ricky Rudd, Robby Gordon vs. about 12 different people, etc.) and it should come as no surprise. There was almost a brawl at the end of the race, when the top four got into a little smack-around on track in the middle of the cool-down lap. 

I think we might need to call that something else if this keeps up!
